The Tirocchi clientele, now including many daughters of earlier
clients, began to prefer the ease and simplicity of ready-to-wear,
which required fewer fittings and a smaller time commitment. In
1924, Anna and Laura Tirocchi began to sell high-end ready-to-wear,
continuing to custom-make some clothing for some clients, including
many outfits for wedding parties. Despite the encroachment of department
store sales, they were able to compete by using their great artistic
skills to become fashion arbiters to their wealthy clients.
< This dress is very similar to the opposite
sketch, but with slight differences in decoration and skirt style,
perhaps illustrating how a design could be customized by the manufacturer.
