Publications
Before ordering garments from Anna and Laura Tirocchi's shop,
clients would peruse manufacturers' catalogues of fashions to select
the styles they desired. In the early years, workers in the shop
would stitch up the garment, and Anna would drape trims on it to
the order of the client. After 1924, readytowear manufacturers
sent out catalogues, clients chose their dresses, and the sisters
ordered them to be made up in New York. Some of the many fashion
publications found in the shop are shown here. In the center of
the display is a catalogue that contains drawings made in the Tirocchi
shop. The purpose of these drawings is uncertain. They may have
been used to show clients' desires for variations on the designs
that could be ordered, making each dress exclusive to a client.
