Titled "meteor" in the vendor's invoice, the spirals and swirling
shapes on this dress border show influences from pre-World War I
futurist art and point the way to the syncopated patterns of the
Jazz Age. The amoeba shapes in particular seem close to the work
of artist Jean Arp.
